چکیده

5-Aminolevulinic acid (ALA) is the precursor of tetrapyrrole synthesis, and hydrogen sulfide (H2S) a gas signal molecule. Studies have shown that exogenous ALA H2S can alleviate abiotic stress. This study evaluated roles their interactions in regulating antioxidant activity pepper seedlings under chilling Chilling stress significantly inhibited growth increased amounts peroxide (H2O2), superoxide anion (O2•?), malondialdehyde (MDA). and/or activities dismutase (SOD), peroxidase (POD), catalase (CAT). Moreover, enhanced ascorbate (AsA)-glutathione (GSH) cycle by increasing contents AsA GSH, ratio to dehydroascorbic GSH glutathione disulfide increased, (APX), reductase (GR), dehydroascorbate (DHAR) monodehydroascorbate (MDHAR) also increased. At transcriptional level, upregulated expressions CaSOD, CaPOD, CaCAT, CaAPX, CaGR, CaDHAR, CaMDHAR reduced H2O2, O2•? MDA, eventually mitigating inhibitory effects on seedling growth. The combination had better effect than or alone. interact regulate oxidative response

Exogenous abscisic acid increases antioxidant enzymes and related gene expression in pepper (Capsicum annuum) leaves subjected to chilling stress.

To elucidate how physiological and biochemical mechanisms of chilling stress are regulated by abscisic acid (ABA) pretreatment, pepper variety (cv. 'P70') seedlings were pretreated with 0.57 mM ABA for 72 h and then subjected to chilling stress at 10°/6°C (day/night). Chilling stress caused severe necrotic lesions on the leaves and increased malondialdehyde and H(2)O(2) levels. Activities of mo...

The Antimutagenic and Antioxidant Effects of Red Pepper Seed and Red Pepper Pericarp (Capsicum annuum L.)

In this study, we examined the antimutagenicity of red pepper seed and red pepper pericarp ethanol extracts using the standard Ames test in the presence and absence of S9 mix. The extracts showed inhibitory effects on both the TA98 and TA100 Salmenella Typhimurium strains against the mutagenic activity of promutagen 2-aminoa nthracene, and were also protective against the directly acting mutage...

[Evaluation of the mercury accumulating capacity of pepper (Capsicum annuum)].

OBJECTIVE To assess the mercury accumulating capacity in contaminated soils from the community of Mina Santa Cruz, in the south of the department of Bolívar, Colombia, of the pepper plant (Capsicum annuum), in order to establish the risk to the health of the consuming population. MATERIALS AND METHODS Samples were taken from tissues (roots, stems, and leaves) of pepper plants grown in two soi...

Suppression Subtractive Hybridization Analysis of Genes Regulated by Application of Exogenous Abscisic Acid in Pepper Plant (Capsicum annuum L.) Leaves under Chilling Stress

Low temperature is one of the major factors limiting pepper (Capsicum annuum L.) production during winter and early spring in non-tropical regions. Application of exogenous abscisic acid (ABA) effectively alleviates the symptoms of chilling injury, such as wilting and formation of necrotic lesions on pepper leaves; however, the underlying molecular mechanism is not understood. The aim of this s...

Cloning and characterization of the CarbcL gene related to chlorophyll in pepper (Capsicum annuum L.) under fruit shade stress

Light is an important environmental factor for fruit development and ripening in pepper plant. Fruit bagging is a significant agrotechnology practiced for the illumination regulation of fruits; some previous researches have shown that fruit bagging could improve the appearance and external quality of fruits and cause them to mature early. However, it would decrease the intrinsic qualities of fr...
